DYAD collaborates with Dado Woodworking and In Situ Design team for a stunning private residence creating gravity defying and architecturally specific pieces. In the Dining Room a twelve foot cantilevering dining table hovers weightlessly from the concrete column, its patinated stainless steel structure supporting a striated Black Limba wood top alludes to the piers on the river. The Kitchen Island made from blue resin floats effortlessly from a remarkably thin asymmetrically placed post giving the appearance of a pool of water in the space. In the Living Room a twenty foot long bench outfitted with green cushions folds and extends as if a ribbon the entire wall like a window seat punctuating spectacular views of the Hudson River, the Statue of Liberty and beyond.

NEW YORK, NY
Approached by clients who wished to liven up their otherwise barren 250 square foot terrace outside their floor-through apartment on west 22nd street, DYAD proposed an ambitious and novel concept- a “green roof without a roof.” To achieve this, DYAD created an open air structure from flame cut I-beams creating the ‘T-shape’ halves that when welded together form the holders for planters. The custom created long and deep cedar wood planters provide enough soil for growing healthy plants and also act as slats of color and shade to the occupants below. Working closely with a landscape designer, flowers and edibles such as lettuces, tomatoes, and root vegetables were hand selected for each planter and meant to be harvested all year round. Even the old brickwork looks happier now.
